Farmington — A demolition excavator crashed into the windows and walls of a school building in downtown Farmington Monday morning, part of a construction project that advocates said will transform a long vacant property.
Residential developer Robertson Brothers Homes is demolishing the former Maxfield Training Center at 3300 Thomas Street in Farmington and will be building a $16 million community of 53 townhomes. Officials said it's the first significant residential project in Farmington's core downtown in decades.
"We are finally activating a long dormant property in the middle of downtown Farmington, bringing 53 new families, new customers, new residents, new members of our 200-year-old community," Farmington Mayor Joe LaRussa said at a press conference.
City and state officials and members of the construction industry gathered Monday to recognize the project, and then workers razed some of the building. Demolition began last week, and construction of the community is set to begin later this year, with the first units scheduled to open in 2025. Darian Neubecker, president of Robertson Brothers Homes, told The Detroit News that it's too early to know the listing price of the townhomes, but the company is hoping they'll be listed in the mid-$300,000s.

Maria is an amazing salesperson. She goes above and beyond to assist clients. She reached out to various individuals for me to help settle issues that came up or questions I had. She is very accommodating and I would say a great asset to Robertson.
